The 2008 baseball season didn't open as Mississippi State head coach Ron Polk and his Diamond Dawgs had hoped, as the team dropped two contests to the North Florida Ospreys in Jacksonville, Fla., and took a hard series loss. Friday showed the appearance of a strong start to the season as the Bulldogs topped the Ospreys in an 8-2 victory for a fifth-straight, season-opening win. (0) comments

Jamont Gordon glared at the game clock late in Saturday's game at South Carolina to see the Bulldogs trailing the Gamecocks 49-47 with 17.6 seconds remaining in the contest. After rebounding South Carolina point guard Devan Downey's free-throw misfire, he rushed down the court and attempted to find a shot which would give his team the lead. (1) comment

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team split a pair of games on their final road trip last week, defeating South Carolina on Thursday before falling to No. 3 Tennessee on Sunday. Mississippi State's 58-54 victory over South Carolina (14-13,3-9 SEC) marked the team's fourth conference win and first on the road. (0) comments

The Bulldog softball team went 2-2 on the weekend at the Mercer Wingate Inn Classic. The team dropped its first two games of the young season to Western Kentucky and picked up wins against Austin Peay and Mercer, moving to 13-2 on the year. Despite the losses, MSU head coach Jay Miller liked what he saw out of his team, especially in its pitching. (0) comments
