Justice Scalia speaks, answers questions at honors lecture

Associate Justice Antonin Scalia addressed an above-capacity crowd at the McCool Hall Auditorium Thursday night in the third lecture of the Lamar Conerly Honors Lecture Series. 350 people listened as Scalia presented his speech, "Mullahs of the West: Judges as Authoritative Expositors of the Moral Law," while upward to 100 people were turned away due to the lack of seating. Forty Mississippi State University students will have the opportunity to travel to South Korea this summer to tour technology centers, participate in seminars, learn at a university and experience Korean culture. J.P. Shim, professor of management information systems, said 30 undergraduate students of any discipline and 10 graduate students from engineering and business will be selected to go on the trip. Half-inch of ice expected for Starkville; loss of power possible

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued an ice storm warning effective until midnight Friday. Heavier freezing rain is moving into the area and dangerous ice accumulations will begin to develop. A half-inch of ice is predicted for the Starkville area. (0) comments
