Site offers textbook rentals

Abstract:
Why buy textbooks when they can be rented? A new company based out of New York City is asking college students that question.

"Some students say they can buy books and sell them back, but it is hard to get bookstores to take books back for even close to what you paid for them," said Aayush Phumbrha, co-founder of Chegg....

Thanks for you information. But I prefer to own textbooks for my reference for future use. I know that sometime textbooks are very expensive. You may get some discount textbooks from online bookstore like Cocomartini.

I get all my textbooks for this semester from this discount bookstore. Brand new and 60% off discount price. See any help

hehe ^_^

Great idea however another website www.whyrentbooks.com is currently doing the same thing and not only offering rentals but will rent out old textbooks that students currently own. If you have an old textbook, they will rent it out for you and give you the money. Everytime your book is rented, you get the money. If that's that amazing I don't know what is.

That's nice, but from my recent experience at MSU, most books are a custom edition printed for MSU, so those wouldn't work. A few years ago when I started at MSU I never saw a custom edition, but after i started back a year ago after about 3 years off, almost all the books I have bought were custom editions.

I wish I had this at my school... textbooks are expensive and there are definitely cheaper ways of distributing textbooks. This looks promising.

this is a great idea because it's much cheaper than buying textbooks. i'm an accounting major and my textbooks are all over $100, some close to $200. the only problem is that alot of colleges are beginning to make "custom edition books", which means that you will end up buying from college bookstores instead of saving money by renting.
