In our law driven society, clear policies on basic ethical issues such as drug and alcohol use in the work place and/or while on the job are now the reality. These policies should apply to all employees equally in MSU's organizatinal structure from the President of MSU to the janitors. Exclusion of some employees in MSU's organizational structure would be a clear sign of a double-standard and the creation of an elite class of exclusive MSU employees who are outside or above ethics standards which should obviously apply to all or at a minimum apply to none at all. If such policies do not apply to the President of MSU which is a highly public and visible position of leadership, then what kind of signal does this give to those who are suppose to follow the leadership of the President of MSU?

We shall see before this semester is over whether there is an exclusive elite class created in MSU's ethics policies or whether there is equal application of MSU policies to all.
