Food: Summer sweeps new eats to Starkville streets

Abstract:
Jean Cafe, top, and Red Zone, above, are two of the multitude of new restaurants in town.

New eats. That's one thing the now dead-and-buried summer break of 2008 has left in its wake. In the short span of four months, a generous portion of new places to chow down and drink up have sprung up around our fair city....

I will continue my boycott of Rosey Baby until they bring the Wellington and the crepe back to the menu. Bring them back, Rosey Baby.

I had the pleasure of eating at Jean's Cafe for lunch on Friday. It was delicious and I will definately be returning.

I've eaten at Gordo's, Jean's Cafe, and Red Zone, and they are all quite good. I'd also like to throw in a good word for Brian Michael's, the new deli across from the Lowe's/Kroger complex on Highway 12. My husband was transfixed by the selection of cheese alone.

I just want to throw this out there. Jean's Cafe is by far one of the best places to eat in town for the money. Some people may disagree and rightfully so. The menu is quite small but what can you expect from a restaurant that cannot properly advertise. I would highly recommend Jean's to anyone, even people that don't like chinese food because the food is so good that it may just change their mind. Also I feel that it is disrespectful to let someone have a business and not let them at least put a sign. I've been to Jean's a few times now and spoken with Ma on numerous occassions about that and she nearly tears up with the fact that she cannot get the word out about her place. Everyone that reads this please at least give Jean's a chance and if you like it tell everyone you can because I don't want to see the best customer support and terrific food leave because no one knew it was around.
