What's the Daffodil?

Abstract:
A recent decision to remove daffodils from the Mississippi State campus has left students, landscape workers and professors irritated and confused.

An anonymous campus landscape employee said he was instructed to dig up daffodils Feb. 6.

He said he had three days to dig and unearthed approximately 5,000 bulbs....

Those daffodils are (or were?) one of the most attractive features of MSU's campus.
I am confused why they were removed and why our president was unable to give a clear answer. If the bulbs were in good condition-why remove them?
I think it is true the more power someone gets, the fewer brain cells they use.

If daffodils is the only thing you tree huggers have to worry about, quit school and join Team Obama and his travelling turd burglers.

Daffodils??????? The next thing you'll be whining about is those craptacular "VOTE FOR ME" signs that Doc won't let you trash the campus with. Oh wait......

YA YA - We must keep MSU just like the faderland. No political signs - no daffodils - everything must be just like i say. I say good riddance.

Ash, you had me inspired at two points: (1) turd burglers and (2) craptacular. Please share more.

He had me at the "durr dee durr el oh elz" level of maturity his post.

Please, Ash, your intellect is astounding, and I would love to subscribe to your newsletter. Maybe I, too, can shove my head up my rear and yell at all the crap I see.

"We don't make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents." I like to make my own little happy world with friendly little daffodills.

Ahh . . . we can tell the Young Republicans are out of their basements when authority worship, "turd burglers," and hits on Barack Obama pollute the Reflector comments.

Here's a newsflash for you, Ash. The President of your University is lying and directing his staff to lie because the truth would make him look petty, underworked, and--frankly--crazy. You're not even a little bit curious about why hort faculty won't comment on the record about daffodils? Google "Combat Proud" and find out what happened to people who crossed Foglesong when they were painting military bases all across Europe the same exact crap brown we're getting in Starkville.

This daffodil thing is just the tip of the ugly iceberg.

Speaking of the Air Force's love for its general, you might want to check out the YouTube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLPk2YlTrwI
Quite enlightening. One has to wonder, where are the General's strawberries?

Thanks Pete! You are right. This is just the tip of the ugly iceberg. I am a female grad student that has been trying to get a light turned on outside of Allen Hall for over a semester. When I emailed Dr. Foglesong, his reply to me was very crude and dismissive. I think that ANY student's concern for their personal safety should be taken seriously. I was told that I should apply for his job if I knew so much about running a campus. And yes, these emails were signed "Foglesong."
We are constantly told how we need to conserve energy to help out with the power bill...but yet the university can spend an outrageous amount of money removing daffodils? All I want is a light to be cut on so that I can feel safer when leaving class after 9pm. The cost between the two isn't even comparable. - STUDENT SAFETY vs. DEAD FLOWERS
Daffodils are one of the first signs of Spring. Winter is coming to an end and we have beautiful daffodils. What's next...? Shooting the robins? As they too are a sign of spring.
Maybe he should focus on being a university president and allow the landscape crews to worry about the flowers.

Camron and Cooper should post & publish the original emails & their responses online and in the reflector. We would all be interested to read his official & full replies.
